Robotics boosters holds race night

GIRARD ROBOTICS HOLDS FUNDRAISER: A Night at the Races and basket auction will be held 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Girard Knights of Columbus hall, 122 S. State St., to benefit the Girard High School Delphi RoboCats robotics team as well as the junior high school and intermediate school’s LEGO League teams.

The benefit is sponsored by the Girard Robotics Boosters. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. There will be 50 / 50 and auction race.

GROCERY DISTRIBUTION TODAY: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. NW, Warren, in conjunction with Youngstown Community Food Center Inc., is distributing grocery items 2 p.m. today at the church.

Recipients need to present a either a state-issued photo ID or a current utility bill. For information, call 330-402-5143 or 330-898-5711.

BOOK SIGNING: Alpha and Omega Ministries, 561 Washington St., Warren, will host Elder Esther Hunter 7 p.m. Friday. Hunter will speak and sign copies of her latest book.

ACADEMY TAKES APPLICATIONS: The Citizens Police Awareness Academy Training is taking applications for its upcoming spring class. Classes will start March 27.

Residents can obtain an application for classes from the Warren website, www.warren.org, or by stopping by the Warren Police Records Department, 141 South St., between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. The course is open to all Trumbull County residents and to previous class participants.

All applications for consideration for the current class must be received no later than March 6. Any applications received after that date will be held for the fall class schedule.

The class offers residents a behind-the-scenes look at day-to-day operations of the department.
