Free tax centers help with forms
SEEING EYE
FREE TAX PREPARATION EXPANDS LOCATIONS: Members of the Trumbull County Partnership for Financial Empowerment have joined with Trumbull Business College, the Emmanuel Community Care Center and Trumbull Community Action Program to expand the availability of free tax preparation by trained tax preparers. Free tax preparation will be available at Trumbull Business College and TCAP sites through March 4 with a “last chance” scheduled April 8 at the Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard. All sites require an appointment. Walk-in filers may be accepted but will be on a first-come, first-serve basis after filers with appointments. Because it may take up to one hour to complete the tax forms, the last appointments will be made one hour prior to the closing time of the tax site. These new sites are designed for filers under the age of 59 and for those whose annual income is $50,000 or below. SCOPE / AARP Tax Aide sites continue to serve those 60 and above. The additional sites will be using the Ohio Benefits Bank tax program.

HEART BALL SET: The American Heart Association will host the annual Tri-County Heart Ball on Friday at The Lake Club. The evening highlights and celebrates the work of the American Heart Association and its mission, its donors and volunteers, and the many lives saved and improved because of everyone’s efforts in supporting the cause. The event features live and silent auctions, dinner and dancing. The Heart Ball is sponsored by Mercy Health. Stories will be shared of Heart Child McKenna Buttry, stroke survivor Ernest Ellis and heart survivor Carroll McAllister.
