Dance studios plan benefit

DANCING FOR OTHERS: Dancing for Others will hold the annual benefit 6 p.m. Saturday at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave., Warren. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. and donation is $5.

Participating area dance studios are Donna Crean D.C. Dancers, Patti Finelli School of Dance, Dynamic Dance Center, The Dance Space, Jill’s Danceshop, Natalie’s Dance Co., Innovation Dance Centre, Jones Dance Academy, JoMarie’s School of Dance and Gymnastics, Steppin Out, Ballroom with Jen and Dance Dimensions.

FRIENDS TO MEET: The Hubbard Friends of the Library will meet 6:30 pm. today in the main meeting room, 436 W. Liberty St. Members can tour the library’s Markerspace Tech Room which has a 3D printer, virtual reality headset, robotics and augmented reality sandbox. Discussion will be on new display shelving, booking pavilion for the summer picnic and a photo project. Call Bonnie at 330-534-1394.

LEAD SCREENINGS: Warren City Health District Nursing Division will hold free lead poisoning and prevention screening for Warren children ages 1 to 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at 258 E. Market St., Suite 327. Childhood immunization also will be available. Shot records must be provided. Call 330-841-2596.

WRITERS TO MEET: The Monday Night Writers will meet 6 to 8 p.m. today in the small meeting room at the Canfield Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown / Mahoning County, 43 W. Main St., Canfield.

Area writers, both published and unpublished, are invited to attend. Led by professional writer Nancy Christie, author of “Traveling Left Of Center And Other Stories,” the sessions offer an opportunity for members to get group feedback on “works in progress.”

MENTAL ILLNESS SUPPORT: The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Mahoning Valley will offer a free class for families dealing with mental illness. It will begin Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 291 Wick Ave, Youngstown. The 12-week ”Family to Family” class, offered through the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will cover diagnosis, medications, advocacy, resources and more.
