Shuttle takes visitors on trip to McKinley home

MCKINLEY CHRISTMAS: A trolley will be provided to shuttle guests for free between the McKinley Birthplace Home, the Birthplace Museum & the Ward-Thomas House during the fourth annual McKinley Christmas Celebration, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

There will be tours, live entertainment, and refreshments. Children can make an ornament craft and visit with Santa. The Salvation Army will provide free hot cocoa to guests.

ACTS OF KINDNESS: Home Savings plans to spread holiday cheer this season by performing Random Acts of Christmas Kindness.

This is the fourth year in a row that Home Savings has performed these Random Acts of Kindness. Each year throughout the month of December, the branches strive to make a difference by delivering spontaneous, unexpected kindnesses to the communities that Home Savings serves.

LIONS CLUB HOST EVENT: The Warren Lions Club will hold its 51st annual Children’s Christmas party for the hearing impaired class at Champion Elementary School noon on Thursday.

POLAR RUN SET: The third annual Polar Run will be held 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at Austintown Fitch High School. The run / walk will benefit local veterans with a tribite lap at the event. Last year’s event benefited ALS research. Registration begins at 5 p.m.

QUILT RAFFLE: The Girard Historical Society is raffling a quilt during December. Tickets are available from historical society members or by calling 330-545-6559. The quilt will be raffled Dec. 18.

The historical society will host the annual Christmas open house 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St. The theme is “Christmas Joys and Christmas Toys” decorating the 1840s home. There will be guided tours and refreshments.
