Neanderthals topic of talk

NEANDERTHALS ARE US:  The Howland Historical Society will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the township administration building with guest speaker, Dr. Loren Lease, associate professor of department of sociology, anthropology and gerontology at Youngstown State University. She will discuss Neanderthals.  There will be refreshments, favors and prizes for the holidays

GIRARD DRAMA PLAY: Girard High School Drama Club will present the play “Almost Maine” 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the  high school cafetorium.

PARKING SPACES FOR VETERANS: Shepherd of the Valley in Niles will dedicate parking  one parking space at each of their five locations in honor of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, an award to those wounded in combat. The parking spaces are intended to honor the residents, staff and community members who were wounded defending our country. It is a reminder of the sacrifice they made and a gesture of our gratitude. Shepherd of the Valley is holding a dedication ceremony 11 a.m. Tuesday at their Niles location, 1500 McKinley Ave.

NWNA TO MEET:  The Northwest Neighborhood Association will meet 6:30 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church off Drexel Avenue NW. This month speakers are Pastor Kyle Tennant of Grace United, Bob Pinti, Warren Health Department commissioner, and a representative of Warren SCOPE.  Trustees and directors meet 5:30 p.m.
