Howland lights up for festival

HOWLAND HOLDS TREE FESTIVAL: The first Howland Community tree-lighting festival will be held 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the gazebo. The event will include a tree lighting 6:30 p.m., Santa Claus arrival and choir singing.  There will be ice carving demonstrations 5 to 8 p.m.  Also scheduled is face painting, performance and pictures with Elsa and Anna and refreshments. The public can bring ornaments to decorate the tree.

PRODUCE DISTRIBUTION: The Warren Salvation Army, 270 Franklin St. E, Warren,  will hold a produce distribution  12:30 p.m.  today. Those needing items must bring a photo identification. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

MIDWEEK MAYHEM AT LIBRARY: The Cortland Library Branch, 578 Lakeview Drive, will hold Midweek Mayhem 3 p.m. Wednesday for teens in grades seven through 12 to take part in crafts, games and other activities.

BLOOD DRIVE: An American Red Cross blood drive will be held 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E Market St.

SANTALAND CELEBRATION: Niles Community Services will hold their 30th annual Santaland event 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at Vernon’s Cafe, 720 Youngstown Road, Niles. The event will include Santa and Mrs. Claus, elves, door prizes and raffle. Reservations are needed by calling 330-652-1381. The event helps Niles Community Services get items for families in need at the holidays.
