AUTHOR TO SPEAK: The Warren Womens Connection, an affiliate of Stonecroft Ministries, invites all women to attend its 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10 luncheon at DiLucia’s Banquet Center, 2610 Elm Road NE, Warren.
The speaker will be Susan Ely from Raleigh, N.C., an author who is writing “Leaving the Safety and Security of Your Shell,” which will be the subject of her talk. She and her husband, Roger, write and perform contemporary Christian music.
Alice Lang from Salem will present the feature program, “It’s All About Gourds.” Roger Ely will be guest musician and vocalist.
Stonecroft Ministries is a non-denominational organization that reaches out to women. Luncheons are held the second Monday of each month for $13.

BINGO AND CARDS: The Ladies Guild of SS. Peter and Paul Church, 180 Belvedere NE, Warren, will hold a bingo / card party 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the social hall. There will be a box lunch, prizes and a raffle. Buy tickets at the door or by calling 330-728-2982.
CARD PARTY FUNDRAISER: Trumbull County Federated Democratic Women’s Club Card Party Committee recently held a meeting to finalize plans for their largest fundraising event of the year, which will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the IUE-CWA Union Hall, 2950 Sferra Drive, Warren. Proceeds will help support Trumbull County’s Democratic Party.
Members of the Card Party committee are Cynthia Gorse, Maria Diggs, Fran Wilson, Julie King, Rose Stockton, Patty Baker and Linda Marchese.
RETIREMENT REP TO SPEAK: Beta Chi, a chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, will meet 6 p.m. Thursday at the Vienna Methodist Church, 4265 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. The speaker will be John Buch of the State Teachers Retirement System.

GOODIES SALE: Trumbull Retired Teachers will meet noon Oct. 11 for a luncheon. Reservation should be mailed to Ellen King, 7141 Vineland Place, Youngstown 44512-4845.
There will be a homemade goodies sale. All proceeds will go toward scholarships.
United Way will conduct a book drive at the meeting for gently used books for grades K-2.
Meetings are open to retired teachers and spouses.

COLLEGE CLUB MARKS 90 YEARS: The College Club of Sharon will begin its 90th anniversary with a fall luncheon noon Oct. 8 in the conference room at the Casino in Buhl Park. Installation of officers for the 2016-17 year will take place with Rosann Rookey and Patty Meehen, co-presidents, officiating.
The speaker will be Dale Ferelman, past president of King’s Jewelry, who has been elected to the National Jewelers Hall of Fame and named Pennsylvania Jeweler of the Year. His topic is ”Gems of Sharon: Steel and Diamonds.”
Ferelman is retired and lives in New Castle, Pa., doing appraisals and jewelry brokering.
