Memorial Day workers needed

VOLUNTEERS SOUGHT FOR FLAG PLACEMENT: Volunteers are being sought to assist in placing flags on the graves of veterans for Memorial Day. Scout groups, church groups and other organizations are all welcome. Those who can help can meet 9 a.m. May 21 and 28 at Oakwood Cemetery on Route 169 in Warren and 9 a.m. May 20 and 27 at Pineview Cemetery on Youngstown Road in Warren. Flags will be placed at All Souls on Bazetta Road 9 a.m. May 21.

BEAUTIFICATION DAY: Bristol schools will host a Beautification Day starting at 10 a.m. May 21 for community and school volunteers to help with cleanups around the schools. The event was to be held this weekend but was changed because colder weather conditions are expected.

RAILROAD CLUB HOSTS OPEN HOUSE: The Riverside Railroad Train Club, the Mahoning Valley’s only public large scale Garden Railroad Club, will hold a spring open house 4 to 8 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Warren SCOPE Center, 220 E. Market St. There will be outdoor train layouts with dozens of handcrafted buildings and steam and diesel trains. For information, call 330-574-1384. Children under 12 are admitted free.

DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION: The Geauga-Trumbull County Solid Waste Management District will hold a one-day document destruction event 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the seasonal facility, 5138 Enterprise Blvd, Warren. There is a limit of four banker boxes. Call 330-675-2673 or 1-800-707-2673.

ANGEL WORKSHOP: A workshop to help to “demystify” some common expectations about angels and how to connect with them in everyday life will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at A Moment for Me Yoga Center, 8309 High St., Howland. There will be meditation to help put people in touch with their guardian angel. To register call 330-647-0399.

SERVICE PLANNED: The Niles Catholic Women’s Club will be celebrating 95 years of service to St. Stephen Church, school and the community with a 9:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday. A brunch for members and family will follow at Ciminero’s Banquet Centre. With 40 members, the NCWC has several members whose service goes back 50 years.

GROUNDBREAKING SET: A groundbreaking ceremony for a new building will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club grounds. The building will be located next to the Agricultural Museum at the back of the club grounds.
