AWL honors volunteers

”SHARE THE LOVE’: The Upward Basketball and Cheerleading Program at Wildare United Methodist Church in Champion held a Share the Love food drive over Valentine’s Day weekend to benefit Someplace Safe domestic violence shelter. More than 700 food items were donated by the athletes.

A competition was held between four divisions to see which division could donate the most items. The winners of the competition were the cheerleaders / third-to-sixth grades girls basketball, with more than 300 items.

NOAS EDUCATION SERIES: Northeast Ohio Adoption Services invites Ohio couples or singles to register for a free Adoption / Foster Care Pre-Placement Education series starting today.

Adults 21 and older who have considered becoming a foster or adoptive parent can find out more about Ohio children and teens served by the child welfare system. Sessions continue through April 12 at NOAS in Warren, 5000 E. Market St., Suite 26.

NIGHT AT THE RACES: St. William Catholic Church, 5411 Mahoning Ave., Champion, is hosting a Night at the Races April 1. Doors open 6 p.m. and the races begin at 7 p.m.

Featured will be silent auctions, 50/50 and door prizes. This event, sponsored by the Warren Gridiron Club, is BYOB. Tickets are available at South Central Tire, 260 South St. SE, Warren, and Cockeye BBQ, 1805 Parkman Road NW, Warren. For more information, call 330-550-8112.

ST. JOSEPH QUARTER AUCTION: St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Road, Austintown, will sponsor its second Quarter Auction 7 p.m. April 8. Doors open at 6 p.m. for adults 21 and over. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. Ticket price includes admission and one bidding paddle. To purchase tickets, call 330-792-3751 or 330-792-7907 (evenings only). Featured will be a 50/50 and lottery tree raffles.
