Toys being collected for hospital

NILES – Three area retailers have launched holiday-related toy and/or book drives to benefit patients at Akron Childrens Hospital Mahoning Valley.

Books-A-Million, located in the Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, Niles is collecting books through Saturday.

JoAnn Stock, Akron Childrens Hospital Mahoning Valley director of development, said Books-A-Million holiday book drive provides an opportunity for customers to donate books purchased at the store to locally designated non-profit organizations.

Akron Childrens Hospital Mahoning Valley has been selected as the beneficiary for the third consecutive year.

The books will be distributed to patients at our two Akron Childrens Hospital Pediatrics offices located in Warren, Stock said.

l The Skate Zone Fun Center, 5420 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, is hosting a toy drive now through Friday to benefit Akron Childrens Hospital. l Youngstown Cycle Supply, 6915 Market St., Boardman, is conducting its fifth Annual Brighten Up for the Kids holiday toy and book drive now through Dec. 22. All toys and books will go to children who spend the holiday season in the hospital. Last year, Youngstown Cycle Supply collected and donated more than 2,000 toys for the patients at the hospital.
