SCHOOL NEWS

STUDENTS COLLECT BOOKS: St. Rose School in Girard recently completed a month-long community project. The students collected 365 new books for the patients of Akron Children’s Hospital. These books will be distributed to inpatients, patients waiting for ER services and other children that come to the hospital. The school recently had a pep assembly to celebrate this accomplishment. JoAnn Stock came as the representative from ACH to accept the books.

AUSTINTOWN SPEECH AND DEBATE: Approximately 450 students from 18 schools competed at the 2015 Austintown Optimist Speech & Debate Tournament hosted by Austintown-Fitch High School. Local winners were:

In Team Sweepstakes, the Top 7 teams included Cardinal Mooney with 66 points in seventh place and Austintown Fitch with 72.75 points in a two-way tie for third place.
