Truck show to feed the hungry
TRUCK CLUB HOSTS SHOW: Cerni Motors and ATCA will present the third annual Penn-Ohio Antique Truck Show to help feed hungry families in the Mahoning Valley from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at 5751 Cerni Place in Youngstown.
Admission is free with at least one nonperishable food item, which will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
The event will include antique trucks, food, vendors, air horns, flame thrower stacks and Jake “Break Offs.”
In 2013, Second Harvest Food Bank was awarded the AIB Food Safety Certification for the handling, storage and distribution of dry goods, canned goods, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy and frozen meats. For more information, visit www.mahoningvalleysecondharvest.org or call 330-792-5522.
MOVIE NIGHT AT CHURCH: Church of the Nazarene, 4175 Pendleton Road, Leavittsburg, will show the movie “God’s Not Dead” at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the indoor 33-foot screen in the church gymnasium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
The event is part of Family Night, with a free movie and free popcorn.
HEALTHY EVENT PLANNED: First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge, will hold a Healthy Kids Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for children sixth grade and younger.
The event will include a livestock petting zoo, art and crafts, hygiene demonstrations, emergency vehicles, door prizes and healthy food. The event is free.
TRACTOR?PULL FEATURED AT SHOW: Groundpounders Unlimited LLC garden tractor pull will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County’s annual show Friday to Sunday at 1653 Ridge Road, Vienna.
BRIER HILL FESTIVAL SET: The 23rd anniversary Brier Hill Italian Fest will be held today to Sunday along Calvin and Victoria streets, Youngstown. There will be games, food, Italian music and table vendors.
Hours are 4 p.m. to midnight Thursday and Friday and noon to midnight Saturday and Sunday. There will be a hot pepper contest Saturday and wine tasting contest Sunday.
MUSICAL PERFORMANCE: Alton Merrell, a pianist and composer, will perform a concert from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Warren Community Amphitheatre.
TUTORING OFFERED: Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 W. Liberty St., Girard, is starting a tutoring program for families who cannot hire a tutor. The tutoring is free. Students will be referred to their school.
