Toths to hold annual garden event

HUBBARD – Rodney and Kay Toth’s 18th annual open gardens will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 31 at 5637 W. Liberty St., Hubbard.

On display will be gardens with many specialty plants such as Mexican petunias, sunflowers “Shock o’ Lot” and Hibiscus “Tequila Sunrise.”

There are several major gardens that include a Mexican Dahlia Garden, the Great Gourd Tunnel (a 40-foot-long gourd arbor), the Grandchildren’s Garden, a Super Sky High Sunflower Garden and The Potpourri Pole with Blue Sky Vine and Red Mandevilla.

Entertainment will be provided by singer Monica Toth Baker at 2 p.m., John Schinker from the Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown with mums and Alice Lang with decorative gourd art.
