Mosquito Lake hosts Pirate Fest


PIRATE FEST AT MARINA: The fifth annual Miskito Pirate Fest will be held Thursday to Sunday at the Mosquito Lake Marina, 1439 state Route 305, Bazetta. The free event includes a weekend filled with pirate activities. Captain John Stout will be on hand all day. Musical entertainment from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday will feature Rudy and the Professionals. MARKET SET IN HOWLAND: The Howland Township Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo park, East Market Street. Admission is free. The open-air market features farm fresh produce and specialty products, hand-crafted items by local artisans and live music. Held rain or shine. WOMEN’S MINISTRY EVENT: The Women’s Ministry of Trinity Baptist Church, 235 Highland Ave., Warren, is sponsoring a clothes giveaway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Bruda Community Centre, 221 Highland Ave.

YOUTH ASSOCIATION HOSTS EVENT: Volney Rogers Youth Association will host a community event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for all former football players, cheerleaders and coaches. There will be a Parade for Peace at 9 a.m. beginning at Kingly Court at Glenwood Community Park and ending at the City of God, formerly Idora Park, where there will be youth performers and local organizations with resource tables.

WEATHERSFIELD HOLDS TIRE COLLECTION: Weathersfield Township was awarded nearly $2,400 in grant funds from the Geauga-Trumbull Waste District for its scrap tire program. Tires can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Friday during the collection week at the township administration building, 1451 Prospect St., Mineral Ridge.
