Austintown hosts Night Out
USTINTOWN TO HOST NIGHT OUT: Austintown Night Out will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Austintown Township Park, 5600 Kirk Road. National Night Out is an event held around the country on the first Tuesday in August. It is put together by block watches, police departments and safety forces. There will be police, fire and ambulance displays, Stat-Medevac medical helicpter, classic car cruise, face painting, clowns, games and basket raffle. The free events promotes involvement in core prevention activities, police community partnerships amd neighborhood camaerderie. The event is free.
LAWN CONCERT TO INCLUDE BEATLES MUSIC: The final summer lawn concert at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will be a Beatles tribute from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday on the front lawn. The Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library will provide free pop and chips. A Kona Ice truck will provide refreshments.
HELP HOTLINE TO OFFER COURSE: The Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc. Recovery Program will offer two 10-week mental health educational courses in Youngstown and Warren this summer for those suffering from mental health or substance abuse issues. The program, called BRIDGES (Building Recovery of Individual Dreams and Goals through Education and Support), will begin from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. There is also a program starting from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Help Hotline Community Center in Youngstown. For information and registration call Nancy at 330-747-5111.
QUILT SHOPS WORK TOGETHER: Eight locally owned quilt stores are working together again to help local food banks and to raise awareness about the joys of quilting. The fourth annual Charming Quilt Shop Tour is being planned for Aug. 21 to 30 at eight sewing and quilting stores in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania.During those days, those who visit the shops will receive free gifts and treats with a portion of their passport or entrance fee into the tour going to help local food banks. Each participant receives free fabric squares, a surprise treat and opportunities to win many give-aways. Participating shops include: Cottonpickers of Chardon; Craft Cupboard of Middlefield; Just Quilt It of Champion; Megen’s Quilt Parlor of Albion; Olive Grace Studios of Fowler; Quilter’s Fancy of Cortland; Tiny Stitches of Middlefield; and Village Quilts of Canfield.
