West Farmington to hold annual summer festival
WEST FARMNINGTON – The annual summer West Farmington Old Fashioned Community Festival will be held Thursday to Sunday at the center off Route 88.
The event includes watermelon-eating contests, musical performances, a parade, Amish buggy rides, kiddie tractor pull, horseshoe pitching contest, and silent auction.
Daily there will be food, games, entertainment and programs. Watermelon-eating contests and three-on-three basketball are planned for each day.
Thursday’s opening ceremony starts at 5 p.m. A parade will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Several contests will be held at the festival including a cookie baking contest, a cake baking contest, pet and baby photo contests.
Chalk on the Walk will be held on Saturday with registration at 1 p.m. and judging that afternoon.
The third annual Farmington 5K fun run and one-mile walk will be held at 7 pm. Friday. Proceeds from the event benefits the festival scholarship fund. The scenic course travels through Amish country. The race will start on College Street, turning North on Third/Girdle Road, left onto Larson West, loop back and finish in front of the village park gazebo.
Day of race registration and check in begins at 5:30 p.m. on Third Street in front of the village garage.
