Wean Foundation hosts session in Warren
WARREN – Neighborhood Success and Leadership, a program of The Raymond John Wean Foundation, has been holding “Getting to Know You” events this summer with the next to be held Tuesday in Warren.
Jennifer Roller, president of Wean Foundation, said the most recent event in Youngstown encouraged staff, residents and stakeholders to share leadership opportunities available through the foundation.
Those wanting to attend are asked call the foundation office at 330-394-5600.
Roller said one such opportunity is serving on the Resident Council for Neighborhood SUCCESS 1.0: Engaging Residents. The council makes the final funding decision for grant awards of $500 to $5000 which support resident-led projects within the foundation’s issue priorities of early childhood, educational opportunity, economic opportunity, community revitalization, and public and civic sector leadership.
Community resident leaders seeking a more intensive leadership opportunity may be interested in participating in Neighborhood SUCCESS 2.0: Emerging Leaders with a focus on asset-based community development providing a curriculum designed to enhance fundamental leadership skills.
“We are creating new roles and opportunities for resident engagement resulting in informed participation in the larger decision making structures,” said Beverly Burks, program officer for resident engagement at the foundation.
