McDonald to host car show
MCDONALD TO HOLD CAR SHOW: The 20th annual Thunder in the Park, hosted by the McDonald Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 194, will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Woodland Park in McDonald. The free car show has registration 2 to 5 p.m., judging 5 to 7 p.m. and awards presentation at 7:30 p.m. The event will include disc jockey Crazy Dave, a 50-50 raffle, door prizes, Jocko the Clown and a playground for children. Proceeds benefit the FOP, which makes contributions to an annual scholarships. Rain date is Sept. 7. For information, call 330-530-1717.
AWL HOLDS MOTORCYCLE RUN: The Animal Welfare League’s 10th annual Motorcycle Run will be held Sunday beginning at the shelter, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna, with registration from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Bikes out at noon. The event will include a Chinese auction, lottery tree, whiskey barrel raffle and 50-50 raffle. The run will be held rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit the AWL in its mission to care for its shelter pets. Call 330-539-5300.
CENTER CLOSED: OH WOW! Roger and Gloria Jones Center in Youngstown will be closed today to prepare for its annual fundraising event, the Science of Brewing. The museum will reopen 10 a.m. Friday.
SCHOOL HOLDS HEALTH FAIR: The Breckenridge School of Nursing will hold a health fair and Family Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown. There will be health information, Chinese auction, bake sale, and 50-50 drawing.
TOUR OF ROBINS THEATER SET: The Trumbull Art Gallery and Robins Theater Renovation Committee will host a tour of the Robins Theater at 2 p.m. Saturday. Those participating are asked to meet at the Lime Tree, 187 W. Market St., Warren. There will be a painting class following the tour from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Lime Tree. DUO TO PERFORM AT PARK: Take II will perform a free concert from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Noon in the Park in Courthouse Square in Warren.
GARDEN DISTRICT HOLDS CRAWL: Peace of Hope Garden, 682 Mercer St., Warren, will hold a garden district tour for the opening of the garden with a ribbon cutting at 4:15 p.m. Friday. The day’s events include a garden district crawl at 3 p.m., party at the porch at 4:30 p.m. and a concert at 7 p.m. All events are free. Guided tours are starting at the Mocha House at 3 and 3:15 p.m.
