Benefit to help Badger teacher
BENEFIT TO HELP TEACHER: A benefit to help Kerri Baker, a Badger kindergartener teacher for 30 years who has recently been diagnosed with a brain tumor, will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday at 5000 Warren Sharon Road. The benefit will help raise money for her and her family and include a Chinese raffle and a 50/50 drawing. T-shirts will be available. CHURCH HOLDS GIVEAWAY: Niles Church of the Nazarene, 1822 Vienna Road, Niles, will hold its monthly giveaway from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
WEIRD WATER SCIENCE: Kelly Hardval, education coordinator of the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District, will hold a Weird Water Science program am at 3 p.m. Monday at the Lordstown Library Branch, 1471 Salt Springs Road. CANNING WORKSHOP OFFERED: The Trumbull County Extension will hold a canning and freezing workshop from 2 to 4 p.m. July 31 at the Trumbull County extension office, 520 W. Main St., Cortland. Participants will learn to preserve summer harvest safely. The course will be taught by Beth Stefura and Marie Economos, educators at the extension office at 330-638-6783.
SALE HELD AT UPTON HOUSE: The annual summer garage sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Upton House, 380 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Admission is free. Call 330-395-1840.
AUSTINTOWN ROTARY HOLDS FUNDRAISER: Austintown Rotary’s Flag Project began July 4 when flags were passed out to area residents to display. The goal is to have as many Austintown homes and businesses with a flag placed in their front yard. Rotary members will put the flags up, take them down and store them to cover six national holidays. The first flags will be placed in yards before Labor Day and will remain through Patriots Day and Veterans Day. During May, flags will be re-installed and remain up through Memorial Day, Flag Day and Fourth of July. This process will continue year after year. Rotary clubs that have implemented the Flag Program have increased in membership. Contact any Rotary club member.
