Falls to host car, bike shows
NEWTON FALLS HOLDS CAR / BIKE SHOW: The Newton Falls Fourth of July Committee will present a car show from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and a bike show noon to 6 p.m. Sunday in downtown Newton Falls. There will be a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, featuring the Marshall Lowry Band.
The car show will include trophies at 6 p.m., a 50-50 drawing and basket raffle. The bike show will include a vendor fair.
At noon on Sunday at the motorcycle show, Mayor Lyle A. Waddell will perform a wedding ceremony.
NEIGHBORHOOD GROUP CANCELS CLEANUP: The Northwest Neighborhood Association had canceled its cleanup for Saturday.
SUMMERFEST IN WARREN: The Trumbull Art Gallery’s Summerfest for children is being held Monday to Friday through June 27. There will be different art workshops throughout the Summerfest, wrapped up by a parade at noon June 27. The parade will leave the TAG Gallery and go to Warren Courthouse Square for activities and free ice cream.

ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Newton Township Cemetery Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the township administration building. The association is selling a 2015 calendar, which features photos of the 1985 tornado that damaged property 30 years ago in Newton Falls. It will be available from any association member.
The association is planning to discuss what projects to be done this summer in the cemeteries with funds raised from a fundraiser held in April. One of the cemetery projects being considered is the repair of the wrought iron fence at Newton East Cemetery on North Canal Street.
BOOK SIGNING SET: Tribune Chronicle humor columnist Burton W. Cole (“Burt’s Eye View”) will sign copies of his novels “Bash and the Pirate Pig” and the “Bash and the Chicken Coop Caper” (B&H Kids / LifeWay Christian Resources) from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Village Bookstore, 8140 Main St., Garrettsville. Cole will read from his novels and lead Summer Reading Program kids through a writing lesson from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Garrettsville Public Library, 10482 South St., Garrettsville. He also will sign copies of his books.
