Service honors safety forces

BROOKFIELD HOLDS MEMORIAL SERVICE: Brookfield Township firefighters, auxiliary members and police will hold its annual memorial service honoring deceased members at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the fire hall, 774 state Route 7. Refreshments will follow.

MEMORIAL FOR FALLEN POLICE: Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 12 Frank Spano Chapter in Warren will hold a public prayer service and hang the wreath for fallen police officers at 6:30 p.m. today at the Police Memorial Marker, by the log cabin across from Courthouse Square, Mahoning Avenue, Warren. Refreshments will follow the service. Event will be rain or shine.

SPEAKER TO ADDRESS WATER POLLUTION: The Johnston Senior Center, 5922 Warren Road, will host a speaker from the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The presentation will be on storm water pollution prevention with discussion wetlands, soils, erosions and water management. For information, call 330-924-0412.

GROUP TO MEET: The Northeast Warren Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Knights of Columbus hall on East Market Street. Guest speakers are Pat Fuller and Paul Pfeifer, director of horticulture at Kent State.

OPEN HOUSE SET AT YWCA: The Warren YWCA, 375 N. Park Ave, Warren, will hold an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday which will also be part of the third annual Girls Night Out. The public will be able to tour the new apartment units for women and women with children. A ribbon cutting was held earlier this week.
