Robotics teams to demonstrate

MUSEUM TO HOST ROBOTICS DEMONSTRATION: The National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren, and Delphi Packard E/EA will host the third annual area For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics teams demonstration and roundup from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the museum.

FIRST Robotics Teams from area high school and middle schools will demonstrate their robots and answer visitors’ questions. Bots of all shapes and sizes will be on display.

The event will showcase robots from the FIRST teams of the Northeast Ohio FIRST Robotics Alliance. FIRST Robotics Competition teams from Warren G. Harding, Champion, Girard, Austintown Fitch and Canfield high schools are scheduled, along with Warren McGuffey K-8 and Austintown Middle School teams competing in FIRST LEGO League.

There is a robots display at the National Packard Museum’s permanent exhibit that highlights Delphi Packard E/EA’s longtime support of FIRST robotics.

CULTURAL ALLIANCE TO MEET: The Ohio Cultural Alliance will meet at 6 p.m. June 2 at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road. Speakers Beverly Olson and Lucy Sharkey will address the theme “Old World Traditions Lost and Retained – Scandinavian.”

Cultural enrichment will be provided by internationally acclaimed pianist Roman Rudnytsky. Those attending are asked to bring nonperishable items which will be given to Gleaners food bank.
