Nurses donate to Second Harvest

NATIONAL NURSE WEEK: Registered nurses of District Three Ohio Nurses Association will celebrate National Nurse Week donating money and nonperishable food items and their time helping from noon to 2 p.m. today at the Second Harvest Food Bank, 2805 Salt Springs Road, Youngstown. The goal is to better care for the community they have donated their lives to serving.

OUTREACH TO SENIORS: The Warren SCOPE, 220 W. Market St., will hold a community outreach program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The event is free and designed for Warren residents to seek answers from a variety of agencies serving the local area. Call 330-399-8846.

FREE GARDENING PROGRAM: Weekly free gardening programs will be held at 6 p.m. for 16 Wednesdays at the Trumbull County Agriculture Center in Cortland. There are different programs scheduled this spring and summer hosted by the Trumbull Master Gardeners.

RAILROAD PROGRAM IN LEAVITTSBURG: The Leavittsburg Heritage Association will hold a program on local railroad history at 6 p.m. Thursday at the museum, 4901 W. Market St. Guest speaker is Bob Smith of the Trumbull County Historical Society.

CHURCH GROUP HOSTS SALE: The Ladies Aide Society of Champion Presbyterian Church, 4997 Mahoning Ave., will hold a rummage sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

GRANT AWARDED: The Youngstown Foundation has awarded Second Harvest Food Bank a $10,000 grant toward a capital improvement project that will help update the food bank’s food ordering and tracking system. FUNDRAISER SET: Ronald McDonald House Charities will kick-off the 12th annual “Give a Hand” fundraiser with participating restaurants through May 10. As in past years, customers can show their support for the charity by purchasing a paper hand in varying denominations of $1, $3, or $5. All fundraiser proceeds will benefit RMHC and support children and families in need in local communities across the United States.
