FOP to host memorial service

REMEMBERING THE FALLEN: Members of Fraternal Order of Police Frank Spano Lodge 12 in Warren will hold a fallen officers memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Monday near the Veterans Memorial and Log Cabin in downtown Warren. The service will honor police officers killed in the line of duty with placement of a wreath at the police officer memorial.

The FOP dedicated the memorial at Monument Park in 2006 south of the Log Cabin.

CHURCH HOLDS SALE: St. Thomas the Apostole Catholic Church, 4453 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, which is also half-price day.

SAFETY CHECKS OFFERED FOR VESSELS: The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct vessel safety checks from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Mosquito Lake State Park. For information, call John at 330-792-5174 or Bill at 330-638-5998.

CLEANUPS PLANNED IN COUNTY: Several Trumbull County communities will be holding cleanups are scheduled Saturday including the Northwest Neighborhood Association cleanup in Warren. Greene, Niles and McDonald will also hold cleanups.

On May 23, is a planned cleanup in Mesopotamia and on May 24 in Brookield.

FARMERS MARKET: The Howland Farmers Market will be held form 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo park off East Market Street. Various vendors and produce will be available. The markets will be held outdoors through the fall.

TRIO TO PERFORM: The Shanower Trio dinner concert to benefit Romania Mission Trip to Camp Eli will be held at 5 p.m. for the dinner and 6:30 p.m. for the concert on Saturday at First Community Church of Leavittsburg, 4640 W. A love offering will be taken for the concert.

PLACING FLAGS ON GRAVES: The Trumbull County Memorial Day Federation is searching for volunteers to assist in cleaning up local cemeteries and placing flags on veterans’ graves. The schedule is 9 a.m. Friday and May 23 in Pineview Cemetery, 9 a.m. Saturday and May 24 in Oakwood Cemetery, 9 a.m. Saturday at All Soul’s Cemetery, and 1 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers are needed. A wagon or lawn cart is needed at All Souls Cemetery.

DESIGN CHALLENGE: The OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology, 11 W. Federal St., Youngstown, will hold a Make Design Challenge from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Participants will make their own creations.
