Shoah Memorial ceremony set

HOLOCAUST COMMEMORATION EVENTS: A Shoah Memorial ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Jewish Community Center in Youngstown. The theme is “Confronting the Holocaust: American Responses.” The event will feature a presentation by Rabbi Frank Miuller, a child of Holocaust survivors about his recent visit to the concentration camps and other significant site in eastern Europe, and a preview of a film about Esther Shudmak. There will be student art projects, presentations, Holocaust-inspired readings, historical perspective and a candlelight ceremony led by survivors and the children of survivors.

CLEANUP ON BIKE TRAIL: The Northeast Warren Neighborhood Association will hold a spring cleanup at 9 a.m. Saturday along the northeast bike trail off Woodland Avenue. Those who can help are asked to meet at the bike path entry on Woodland Avenue and bring brooms and shovels. Bags, gloves and other supplies will be provided.

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEANUP: The Central City Neighborhood Association will hold a spring cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Volunteers should meet at the Central City Unity Garden, corner of Washington Street N.E. and Mercer Street N.E. Free lunch will be provided for the volunteers.

SAFETY DAY IN HUBBARD: Hubbard Kids Safety Day will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Elementary School gymnasium. The event is part of the Eagle Scout project of Matthew Turner of Boy Scout Troop 55. There will be fire safety, self defense, child identification cards and car safety. The event is for children in grades kindergarten to fourth grade.

AUCTION TO HELP BEATITUDE HOUSE: Beatitude House will hold its 15th annual wine taste and auction at 5:30 p.m. May 2 at The Embassy in Boardman. The evening will include a dinner buffet, representatives from area wine distributors, a live auction conducted by Basinger Auction Service, and a silent and ticket auction. COLLECTION DAY: A one-day collection of appliances will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the seasonal collection facility, 5138 Enterprise Blvd., Warren. For information, call 330-675-2673.

BIKE RUN: A bike run will be held starting at noon Sunday at Army-Navy 244, 418 Mason St., Niles. Signup begins at 11 a.m. with a blessing of the bikes at noon followed by the ride.

VENDOR EVENT: Legacy Dog Rescue will hold a vendor show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church gymnasium, 2432 Raccoon Road, Austintown.

SHOWCASING ARTWORK: The first annual Creating Connections with Children’s Rehabilitation Center art show will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday with an open house at the center, 885 Howland-Wilson Road, Warren. The art show will feature artwork by first- and second-graders at Howland Glenn School and children at Kids’ Garden at CRC.
