Prescription Take Back Day planned

LIBERTY OFFERS PRESCRIPTION TAKE BACK: The Liberty Police Department in cooperation with the DEA will participate in the National Prescription Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty Township administration building. Participants wanting to return unused, outdated or unwanted drugs are asked to place the medications in clear, sealed zip-locked bags. No liquids, needles or sharps will be accepted.

The service is free.

APPLIANCE COLLECTION OFFERED: The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste District will offer a one-day seasonal household hazardous waste collection from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the waste recycling facility, 5138 Enterprise Blvd., Warren. There is a limit of four banker boxes. Paint, oil, anti-freeze and batteries will be collected.

SOUP EVENT SET: Youngstown Soup is seeking donations for the first Soup event to be held from 7 to 9 p.m. April 27 at the Calvin Centre, 1755 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

Youngstown Soup is a microgrant dinner celebrating community projects in Youngstown. Guests receive homemade soup and a ballot. Four community projects are chosen and presenters have four minutes to share their ideas and answer questions.

After a break, ballots are counted and the projects with the most votes takes home 100 percent of the money collected that night. The winning soup makers also receive a gift certificate to a local grocery store.

FUDRAISER TO BENEFIT BEATITUDE HOUSE: The first annual mah-jongg fundraiser and Spring into Mah-Jongg tournament party will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish Hall, 2729 Center Road, Poland. Proceeds from the event will help Beatitude House, a shelter for women and children.
