Inspiring Minds gala planned

INSPIRING MINDS HOLDS GALA: The Inspiring Minds eighth annual gala “Inspired Tastes American Road Trip” will be 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Demetrios Community Center, 3223 Atlantic St. N.E., Warren. The event celebrates the growth and accomplishments of under-represented youth in the community and features cuisine and culture from coast to coast. The event will include community achievement and scholarship award presentations, video presentation and a check presentation by General Motors. Former Inspiring Minds’ students Shawna’ King and Marvin Logan will be this year’s Masters of Ceremonies.

DAY FOR GIRLS: Sonia Kovalesvsky Day will be held Thursday at Youngstown State University Kilcawley Center Chestnut Room. Girls who attend will celebrate the important role of females in the development of the field of mathematics and learn the beauty of math through fun activities and break-out sessions.

CEMETERY CLEANING: Niles City Cemetery has begun spring cleanup with individuals asked to pickup winter wreaths and artificial flowers to allow for cleaning. Items not removed will be disposed of by employees.

DROP OFF LOCATION: Homes For Kids, 165 E. Park Ave. in Niles, is a drop-off site for the Second Harvest Food Bank Harvest For Hunger Campaign. Non-perishable food items can be dropped off through this Friday. This is a project through Leadership Mahoning Valley that directly affects many agency clients.

PRODUCE GIVEAWAY: The Warren Family Mission will hold a produce giveaway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Bring photo identification and box or bag to carry produce.
