Garden cleanup set for Friday

CLEANUP PLANNED FOR GARDEN: A cleanup will be held starting at 10 a.m. Friday at the Giving Tree Garden, corner of Vine Avenue and Scott Street, Warren. The Giving Tree Garden is a new children’s garden and is an ongoing and annual free summer program open to children ages 5 to 12.

GIRARD HOSTS EASTER EVENT: An Easter family event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Girard IGA Santisi’s parking lot, 419 N. State St. There will be children’s games, photos with the Easter Bunny and live rabbits.

The parade has been canceled.

BAKE SALE SET: Vienna AMVETS Post 290 Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual bake sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Good Friday, corner of state Route 193 and Warren Sharon Road, Vienna. All proceeds go to the auxiliary to contribute to veterans.

ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Newton Township Cemetery Association will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. today at the Newton Township administration building, Newton Falls. The group is planning cleanups and improvement projects at the cemetery.

EVENT SEEKS VOLUNTEERS: Warren SOUP is seeking volunteers to help with the next SOUP set for 5:30 p.m. May 2 at the Mahoning Valley Hope Center, 3217 Surrey Road SE., Warren. Those who can assist or donate to the event can email Sheila Calko at sheila@tnpwarren.org

LIBERTY GROUP TO BEAUTIFY: Liberty in Bloom will work at pruning the rose bushes in the triangle area and on the hill behind the flag from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and April 25 at Interstate 80 and Belmont Avenue.

Those helping are asked to park at Fortune Garden parking lot. Bring gloves and pruning tools and shoes that can get muddy. Whatever work is not completed will continue May 3.

Seeds have been planted for 26 beds around the township.
