Seminar to cover probate basics

PROBATE SEMINAR SET: Judge Thomas A. Swift will host a probate basics seminar from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. March 21 in the Technical Building at Kent State University at Trumbull in Champion. The seminar topics are intended to assist attorneys, paralegals and students.

Attorneys William Hanshaw and Gary Pilcher of the Farmers Trust Company will discuss trusts, and Swift and Magistrate John Shorts will discuss the probate court’s local rules, probate forms and professional conduct in the courtroom.

SPRING CLEANUP TO BEGIN: Pineview Memorial Park in Warren will begin spring cleanup on Saturday. All winter flowers or decorations will be removed in preparation for spring maintenance.

Anyone wishing to keep arrangements should retrieve them by Saturday. Any remaining items will be discarded.

HARDING TEAM TAKES PART: The Warren G. Harding Raiders are joining Trumbull Mobile Meals in the March for Meals Mall Walk at the Eastwood Mall on Saturday. The team is challenging all Trumbull County football teams and cheerleaders to join them in the endeavor.

Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and the walk is from 8:15 to 9 a.m. The individual who raises the most money will receive a $100 first place Eastwood Mall gift card. The team that raises the most money for this event will be treated to a pizza party at the beginning of the upcoming football season.

ADDICTION TOPIC OF PROGRAM: The Trumbull County Opiate Task Force, a program of the Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board and the Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention, is presenting “Hope for Recovery from Addiction” from 6 to 9 p.m. on March 22 at the Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Champion.

The event is free and will include resources that are available to help those dealing with issues as well as provide the opportunity to talk with other families and agencies who can offer assistance and support within the community.
