Rotary to honor safety forces
ROTARY TO RECOGNIZE SAFETY FORCES: The Howland Rotary Club will hold the annual recognition for safety forces Saturday at Howland High School cafeteria.
The Rotary will be making presentations of plaques and checks to the police and fire departments. The Interact Club from the high school will also be receiving a $500 donation noting the adviser, Andrea Ferenac, took part in the Polar Plunge for the American Cancer Society.
A dinner fundraiser will also be held.
LIBRARY BOARD TO MEET ON LEVY: The McKinley Memorial Library Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. today for levy discussion. The meeting will be held in the Clayman Community Room at the McKinley Birthplace Home and Research Center, 40 S. Main St., Niles.
HOWLAND GROUP TO BE HOSTED: Quaker Steak and Lube in Cortland is set to host the Howland High School softball team for a Chicken4Charity fundraising event from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday. Through the event, Quaker Steak and Lube will donate 15 percent of the total food sales to the Howland High School Softball team.
To participate, supporters of the team must bring an official event flyer with them on the night of the event. Before leaving, guests simply need to drop a copy of their receipt along with the flyer in the box provided on the lobby information table for their meals to count toward the donation. The event is the first to be hosted at the new location.
ASSOCIATION TO MEET: The Newton Township Association will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the township administration building, Newton Falls-Bailey Road, Newton Falls. A 2015 calendar featuring local photographs is being produced by the association.
Anyone willing to loan photos to be considered for the 2015 calendar may contact Mary Lou Drotar O’Lear at 330-872-5995. The photographs may be of local scenery, buildings, events or people. All photos used will be returned.
SEEKING EASTER DONATIONS: The Emmanuel Community Care Center in Girard will distribute Easter baskets to children ages 2 to 11 whose families are registered at the center. Sign-up is through April 4. Easter baskets will be given from 10 a.m. to 3 pm. April 16.
Any individual or organization wishing to donate an Easter basket, candy or small toys for the baskets can call the center at 330-545-4301. Donations are needed by April 9.
