Princess event will be magical

PALMS PREPARED FOR ASH WEDNESDAY: Blessed Sacrament Parish, 3020 Reeves Road N.E., Warren, will hold an evening prayer service at 7 p.m. today. During the service, dried palms will be burned and their ashes used for Ash Wednesday.

The parish will celebrate Ash Wednesday with Service of the Word including distribution of ashes at 7 a.m. and noon, and Mass at 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., also including distribution of ashes.

WOMEN TO BE RECOGNIZED: OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St., Youngstown, will hold “Women in STEM” to celebrate women who made significant discoveries related to science, technology, engineering and math. The event will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today and March 12.

PRINCESS EVENT SET: The Magical Princess Experience will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hippodrome Ballroom. Young girls will have the opportunity to spend time with many of their favorite princesses.?There will be a coronation ceremony, fashion show, story and songs. PUBLIC MEETINGS SET: Public meetings about the challenges of vacant property and vacant land re-use will be held starting in Warren’s southwest section hosted by Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership which will present information from the Community Challenge Housing Survey about vacancy and housing conditions in the neighborhoods.

Meetings are 6 p.m. March 10 at King of Kings Church 634 Hoyt St. S.W. for Jefferson School area; March 11 at York Avenue Church of God, 872 York Ave. S.W. for the Westlawn area; March 12 at RBG Eatery, 1958 Palmyra Road S.W. for Palmyra Heights area; and noon March 13 at York Avenue Church of God, 872 York Ave. S.W. for all areas.

The noon meeting will cover information from all areas. Feedback is requested for specific neighborhoods. This is an alternative time for those who cannot make it to evening meetings.
