Pinwheels to raise awareness

PINWHEELS FOR PREVENTION: The Child Advocacy Center and Trumbull County Children Services will hold the ninth annual Pinwheels for Prevention at 10 a.m. Friday at Trumbull County Children Services, 2282 Reeves Road, N.E., Warren. The event is a public awareness campaign designed to increase awareness about child abuse and neglect in Ohio. There will be remarks by community and child advocates and public officials.

PARROT RESCUE HOLDS FUNDRAISER: Parrot Hope Rescue (Northeast Ohio’s Largest Parrot Rescue) will hold a craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Packard Park Shelter House, Mahoning Avenue, Warren. The Easter Bunny will attend. There will also be basket raffle and bird toy sale.

ENTRIES SOUGHT FOR MOTHER’S DAY: A Mother’s Day commemoration ceremony is being planned for 3 p.m. May 10 at the Warren Amphitheatre off Mahoning Avenue, Warren. Nominations are being sought through April 10. Nomination requirements are a 50-75 word essay with mom’s picture and name and why she should be nominated for one of three categories: “innovative mom,” “chief executive mom,” or “the mom who does it all.” If candidate is deceased, bring the obituary to honor her. Nominees do not have to be a mom, but can be a mother figure. Send entries to

CHARITY EVENT SET: “Making A Difference Through Laughter, A Charity Event” will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at MoJo’s Pub on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown. The event will include dinner, a comedy show and a chance to win a grand prize. Sponsored by The Newcomers Club Of Canfield, the charity event will take place.
