Edible Book Festival planned

EDIBLE BOOKS FUNDRAISER?SET: First Book Trumbull County will hold the sixth annual Edible Book Art Festival fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St, Warren.

The public can select a People’s Choice winner by making a monetary donation in support of a favorite entry. There will be a basket raffle and 50-50 raffle. All proceeds will go toward book grants for educational programs for low-income families in the county.

Participants create a piece of edible book material that represents a classic or current children’s book, The children’s book that inspired the edible art will be displayed alongside the contest entry.

MATH GAMES AT CENTER: The OH WOW! Roger and Gloria Jones Science and Technology Center, Youngstown, will hold mathematics games from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today and March 26. There will be old-fashioned board games.

SCHOOL HOSTS FUNDRAISER: Students of Junior Tae Kwon Do School will host a fundraiser at 5 p.m. Saturday at the school, Champion Plaza, 4433 Mahoning Ave. There will be four 15-minute sessions when all participants will do flutter kicks for 15 minutes straight with a parent or a black belt sitting in front of them to count their kicks.

Sponsors are sought who can give a flat donation or challenge the participant by pledging a certain amount per kick. The average participant will complete approximately 1,500 picks per session.

The participants can take part in each of the four sessions; their highest session will count toward their total number of kicks.

HELP IN ENROLLING: Access Health Mahoning Valley and Humility of Mary Health Partners will help enroll people in health insurance from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Eastwood Mall’s community room near Dillard’s and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 25 at Youngstown State University in the Ohio Room of Kilcawley Center.

Financial help is available to help pay monthly premiums for those signed up by March 31 when open enrollment ends in the federal marketplace. Reservations are requested but not required at 330-373-0703.
