Domestic violence to be forum topic

COMMUNITY FORUM ON VIOLENCE: A community forum on domestic violence hosted by the Brookfield United Methodist Church, 6951 Grove St., Brookfield, will be held at 6:30 p.m. March 27 at the church. Guest speaker is Linda Baer-Bigley from Someplace Safe of Warren, Elsa Gottfried, legal aid attorney, attorney James E. Hoffman III and Officer Roy Anne Rudolf, Brookfield police. The program is open to the public. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.

SCIENCE DAY AT YSU: The Ohio Academy of Science District 15 Lake to River Science Day will be held Saturday at Youngstown State University Stambaugh Stadium for grades fifth to 12th in public, private and parochial schools. This is one of 16 regional science fairs in Ohio including Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, and Ashtabula.

DISTRIBUTION OF ITEMS: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. N.W., Warren, in conjunction with Youngstown Food Center will hold a grocery item distribution at 2 p.m. today at the church. Those needing items are asked to bring photo identification and a utility bill.

CHURCH TO?HOLD FUNDRAISER: The First Baptist Church of Girard will hold a fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bob Evans, 3818 Belmont Ave., Youngstown. 15 percent of sales made will be donated to the church.

PRODUCE GIVEAWAY: Warren Family Mission, 361 Elm Road, Warren, will hold a produce giveaway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday while supplies last.

HELP WITH ENROLLMENT: Humility of Mary Health Partners is teaming up with Access Health Mahoning Valley to offer free help to those wishing to sign up before the March 31 deadline. Join staff from Access Mahoning Valley and Humility of Mary Health Partners from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Eastwood Mall community room (near Dillard’s.) Experts will be on hand to help answer questions about health insurance options and assist with online enrollment. Financial help is available to help pay monthly premiums for those who sign up by March 31. Reservations are requested but not required, and can be made by calling 330-373-0703.

DONATION RECEIVED: Boxes of school supplies were delivered to United Way offices recently after a collection at local auto parts stores with the help of Trumbull County Children’s Services. An additional $200 was raised through dress-down days to purchase supplies, which were put in collection receptacles.

LEARN ABOUT TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC HIP PAIN: Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kenneth Jones will present, “When Is Hip Replacement the Best Option?” Those attending will learn about the causes of chronic hip pain and treatment options from medication and therapy to minimally invasive hip replacement. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out if they may be candidates for joint replacement.
