Rescue Mission offers free coats

RESCUE MISSION PROVIDES COATS: The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley will provide gently used warm coats and blankets free to anyone in need during two church parking lot location giveaways. Giveaways are 10 a.m. to noon today at Restoration Ministries, 1729 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown and 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Spanish Evangelical Church, 369 Keystone Ave. A truck filled with gently worn coats and dozens of donated blankets and sheets, supplied by generous donors in the Valley, will be distributed first come first serve. GROUP TO HEAR FROM SPEAKER: The Warren 6th Ward will hold a community ward meeting at 6 p.m. today at Grace A.M.E. Church, 1137 Main St. S.W. Guest speaker is Derrick Toles, founder of Inspiring Minds, who will discuss the “We Are Warren” campaign, and how it will benefit the youth of Warren. City residents are being asked to fill out a survey that will help shape projects throughout the community.

CENTER OFFERS ACTIVITIES: The OH WOW! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St., Youngstown, will hold Microscope Mayhem from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Participants will learn about the micro world looking at materials under high-powered lens. Children make math tools from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Items will be tools used before calculators.
