Mental Health Board to host documentary
WARREN – The Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board will show the screening of ”The Anonymous People” at 6 p.m. Saturday at Sahara Club II, 2345 Youngstown Road S.E., Warren.
David Spies of the mental health board said the documentary film is about the more than 23 million Americans living in long-term recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction. Just like women with breast cancer or people with HIV/ AIDS, a grass-roots social justice movement is emerging to deal with addiction recovery.
The film shows how addiction recovery advocates have come out of the shadows and are organizing to end discrimination and move toward recovery-based solutions.
The board met recently with members of Surviving Our Loss and Continuing Everyday (SOLACE) to discuss offering parenting classes to those with loved ones in recovery and to help people take the steps to get away from alcohol and drug addiction.
