LaBrae inducts hall-of-famers

LEAVITTSBURG – With nostalgic images of old telephones and cameras, along with magazines and newspapers of the past, guests at the LaBrae Schools Alumni Hall of Fame took a step back in time as they honored the newest honorees.

Guests were introduced to the five inductees, David Blahu, the Rev. Marc Booker, Michelle Granny, Heidi Bartholomew and Fred Alberini.

Resident Rhonda Drescher created the displays showcasing items from the district’s past for the celebration held at the school complex.

Wendy Popour, committee member, said the purpose of the Hall of Fame is to recognize and honor those who, through their performance and achievement, reflect credit in the high schools so that present-day students may find identity with the past and establish goals for the future.

The Hall of Fame was established in 2009, with five honorees each year selected. Honorees must have graduated at least 10 years prior from Braceville, LaBrae or Leavittsburg high schools.
