SCOPE members create decorations

LORDSTOWN – Wanting to make the village look festive for the winter holiday season, members of Lordstown SCOPE Center created winter decorations for the intersection of Tod Avenue and Salt Springs Road.

Frank Slifko and Joe Branch made three sets of wooden snowmen holding signs wishing the public a happy holiday season.

“We did this for the community and wanting to wish everyone a happy holiday,” Slifko said.

Branch said it was decided to place the decorations at the busy intersection corner where they would have the most visibility.

The wooden decorations are five feet tall and were drawn, cut and painted by the senior members.

“This is our way to give back to the community,” Slifko said noting the schools have allowed the seniors to use a room at the back of the elementary school building for their center.

The decorations were put up for Christmas and will remain through New Year’s week.
