Lordstown police host holiday drive

LORDSTOWN COLLECTING ITEMS: The Lordstown Police Department is collecting non-perishable food items, paper products and canned goods for its annual food drive to help 20 families in Lordstown this holiday season.

Donations can be brought through Dec. 15 to the police department, village administration building or Imperial Homes office. Monetary donations are also being accepted. Items will be delivered on Dec. 19.

DRAMA CLUB TO PRESENT PLAY: The Champion High School Drama Department will present the play “Edelweiss,” by Craig Sodaro, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the high school auditorium. The play is being directed by teacher David Dunlap and tells of the holocaust and dramatizes the effects of the Nazi noose as it tightens around the neck of the common German on a classroom at the Schloss Strasse School for Girls.

Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at 6 p.m.

FOOD DRIVE SET AT PROGRAM: Disney On Ice will once again host a food drive to help area families in need this Thanksgiving by collecting donations for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

Two ticket vouchers redeemable for Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic will be issued with the donation from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday Covelli Centre box office lobby, 229 E. Front St., Youngstown, of a Thanksgiving care package containing the following items: a can of vegetables, box of instant mashed potatoes, can of broth, box of stuffing mix, and canned pumpkin or apple pie filling.

A limit of one pair of ticket vouchers will be issued per family. There is a limit of 300 ticket vouchers available. For information visit www.ticketmaster.com or call 1-800-745-3000.

GROCERY DISTRIBUTION: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. N.W., Warren, will hold a grocery distribution at 2 p.m. Thursday at the church in conjunction with the Youngstown Community Food Center Inc. Those needing items must bring photo identification and a utility bill.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER: The Niles Interfaith Banquet is holding a fundraiser for the youth awards from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Bob Evans Restaurant, 5413 Youngstown Warren Road, Niles.

Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of the sales when presented with flyer.
