Butler to host free family day

FAMILY DAY AT THE BUTLER: A free Family Day at the Butler Institute of American Art Howland Branch will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Children ages 10 and younger, accompanied by an adult, will hear a story and take part in an art activity. The event is being held in connection with the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. GIRARD TO PRESENT PLAY: The Girard High School Drama Club will present “Little Shop of Horrors” at 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Girard High School auditorium, 1244 Shannon Road. Tickets can be ordered by calling 330-545-5431, Ext. 110.

The play is a story about a down-and out skid row floral assistant who becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for blood.

FALL CLEANUP AT CEMETERY: Pineview Memorial Park in Warren will hold a fall cleanup beginning Friday. All vases will be emptied and turned down for the winter months. Anyone wishing to keep arrangements should retrieve them prior to Friday as remaining items will be discarded. Winter decorations can be placed once cleanup is completed. Call 330-369-3186.

LIMB COLLECTION IN HOWLAND: Howland Township is holding a limb and branch pickup for residents who live on the west side of the township, which includes North Road and the streets off North Road. The collection is through Nov. 22. One pass will be made on each street.

FUND ESTABLISHED TO HELP FAMILY: A fund has been set up to help the family of Jan Ahmer Parnell, who passed away. Parnell had no savings or life insurance. Various fundraisers have been held to help the family.

BOOK EVENT SET: First Book-Trumbull County will hold a vendor fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 East Market St., Warren. A wide variety of vendors and crafters will attend. There will be a bake sale and raffles. Lunch will be available.

All proceeds will go to providing new books to children in need in Trumbull County. For information, call Ellen Finan at 330-638-4393.

CONCERT SET: The Ken Medema Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Pymatuning Valley High School auditorium. Medema is a renowned composer and entertainer. The concert is free.

Medema will also participate Sunday in three worship services at 8:30, 9:30 and 11 a.m. A freewill offering will be accepted.
