HOWLAND TO HOST SHRED DAY: Howland Township will hold a Protect-N-Shred it Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the gazebo parking lot. Township residents can bring up to five large garbage bags of paper to be shredded. No office or commercial shredding. All paper will be recycled. Republic Service will be at the event to sign residents up for free curbside recycling and provide free 55-gallon container for recyclables.
STUDENTS PREPARE FOR MASQUERADE EVENT: The Children at the Rich Center for Autism are preparing for the Masquerade for Autism event to be held Saturday at Stambaugh Auditorium. The event raises funds for the center. Children will be painting and decorating pumpkins on Wednesday to be used as centerpieces at the event.

SCOPE TO HOST FALL EVENTS: The Cortland SCOPE Center, 125 N. Bank St., will hold a Haystack event at 6 p.m. Thursday with entertainment by the Funtime Cloggers. Tickets for the event are available at the center.
Helen Hammett, a ventriloquist, will be at the center on Oct. 23 for Halloween skits. Snacks will be provided.
CHURCH PLANS HARVEST TEA: Champion Christian Church, 151 Center St. West, will hold a Harvest Tea at 1 p.m. Saturday. Women of the community are invited to attend. Reservations are needed by calling 330-847-0785.
OPEN HOUSE SET: The Central YMCA, 17 N. Champion St., Youngstown, will hold an open house and health fair from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. More than 70 vendors are scheduled to attend with various screenings to be offered at minimal charge.
