Fire department plans open house

OPEN HOUSE SET: The Warren Township Fire Department will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 950 North River Road. The event is part of Fire Prevention Week, with displays of safety vehicles, informational materials and refreshments.

OKTOBERFEST TO BENEFIT RELAY: The Stone Yard Grill and Tavern and Sons of Italy will hold an Oktoberfest from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Stoneyard Grill and Tavern, 41 S. Main St., Niles, and Sons of Italy, 28 E. Park, Niles, to benefit the Niles Relay for Life. There will be a cornhole tournament and live music.

SCHOOL HOSTS PLAY: The Lakeview High School Drama Club will present its annual fall play, a two-act comedy “Rest Assured” by Donald Payton, at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Raidell Auditorium. The house opens 30 minutes prior to the performance and tickets are available at the door.

WALK TO BATTLE ALS: A walk to defeat Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS) will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Eastwood Field in Niles. Registration is at 9 a.m. All walker receive a walk T-shirt and lunch. Wheelchairs and strollers are welcome.

VENDORS SOUGHT FOR RELAY EVENT: The Liberty Relay For Life is holding its fourth annual Autumnfest from 9 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at W.S. Guy Middle School commons. There will be a trick-or-treat for children and a costume contest. Vendors are asked to call Debbie Mullarkey at dmullarkey@ or 330-646-7934.

WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN: A “Free to Be Me” workshop for women will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown Poland Road, Youngstown. The fall theme is “Surviving to Thrive.” The informational day will include vendors, make-up artists, photographers, raffles, prizes and ganes.
