Champion Alumni plan open house

CHAMPION – The Champion Alumni Association has created a special room of Champion school’s history and memorabilia which will be viewable for the public from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday during parent-teacher conferences.

Stan Petrick, president of the association, said Room 43 at the high school in the band hallway will have photos, trophies and other school memorabilia on display.

Petrick said there are plans for T-shirt sales, applications for memberships and soliciting of donations and funds for shelving for the room.

The members have expressed interest in having wood shelving for the room.

Petrick said the open house this week will be the first time the room has been opened.

Carolyn Stear, a member of the committee, said there are plans by the alumni to hold building tours on Nov. 1 in conjunction with the Hall of Fame induction on Nov. 2 at Enzo’s Banquet Center.

Central Elementary tours will be held at 5 p.m. Nov. 1, meeting at the gym entrance closest to RD Banks Chevrolet in the front of the building. The high school tour is at 5:45 p.m., starting at the gym entrance.

Any community members interested in taking a tour are welcome. Tours will be conducted by Roger Samuelson, a board member and alumni, at Central Elementary and by Petrick at the high school.

A harvest basket raffle is also being planned for the Hall of Fame event.
