Taste of Hubbard event planned

HUBBARD PLANS ANNUAL EVENT: The sixth annual Taste of Hubbard will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 29 at Harding Park. There will be food tasting at the Kyle Pavilion, a vintage car cruise, deejay, Chinese auction, and homemade baked good sale. Proceeds from the event will help with the Harding Park meeting house building as a committee is working to rebuild the historic 1857 Presbyterian Meeting House that once stood at the corner of Hager and West Liberty streets. The committee is comprised of members from the Trumbull cares, Hubbard Rotary and Hubbard Park Board.

CENTER AWARDED GRANT: Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc. was awarded a $4,000 grant from the Ridgecliff Foundation for operation of their Peer Warm Line which provides support for individuals who are coping with mental health, alcohol, or drug problems. Trained peers offer telephone support and encouragement to support people in recovery. For information call 866-303-PEER (7337).

LIBRARY DISPLAY: The Newton Falls Public Library is showcasing hand portraits in the lobby exhibit case. The portraits are the product of a collaborative project between visual and language arts students from Newton Falls High School and volunteer residents for Laurie Ann Nursing Home.

KENT TO HOLD AWARD RECEPTION: Kent State University at Trumbull will host the scholarship reception at 3 p.m. on Sept. 27 in Room 117 of the Technology Building, campus of Kent State Trumbull, 4314 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. The 2012-13 event saw a group of over 160 Kent State Trumbull students honored as recipients of a variety of scholarships. Among the scholarships awarded were 34 donor-supported, 31 external and seven campus-based scholarships.

HEALING GROUP TO MEET: The teachings of Bruno Groening healing group will be having free introductory lecture at 7 p.m. Monday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St. (Route 46) Canfield.
