Charity volleyball at Mathews school
VOLLEYBALL FOR CANCER: Mathews High School cheerleaders will sponsor the third annual Charity Volleyball For Cancer event at 6 p.m. Friday at Mathews High School. There will be a 50/50 raffle, a concession stand and a bake sale. Everyone is asked to wear pink or white socks to the event for a photo. An attempt will be made to make a gigantic pink ribbon on the gym floor with everyone’s feet.
FOOD TO BE OFFERED: Deliverance Temple Church, 1849 West Ave. N.W., Warren, in conjunction with Youngstown Community Food Center, will hold grocery distribution at 2 p.m. Thursday. Those attending are asked to bring photo identification and a utility bill.
BENEFIT PLANNED: A benefit will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Sharpsville VFW, 215 N. Walnut St., Sharpsville, Pa., to help Kristin Toth Weinel who was injured in an ATV accident on July 25. Her injuries included head trauma, a brain bleed, collapsed lung and skull, facial, jaw, collarbone, rib and pelvis fractures. A Chinese auction and a 50/50 raffle will be held. GROUP TO MEET: Girard Second Ward Blockwatch will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Girard Free Library.
GARDEN GROUP HOLDS WORK DAY: Gregg’s Gardens will hold a work day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Those who want to help will meet at the corner of Elm Road and Atlantic Street, Warren. The Ohio Prairie Nursery will be on hand to provide professional guidance on how to properly weed and maintain the wild flower gardens. Tools and supplies will be provided.
