Autumn festival planned Sunday

AUTUMN FESTIVAL SET: Howland Community Church, 198 Niles Cortland Road, will hold Smokey’s Autumn Festival at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The event will include a dinner, music with UnMeasured Grace, mini-car show and games. The Howland Historical Society will be presented with Smokey Cunningham’s letter sweater and megaphone at 12:30 p.m.

The event is held each year in honor of Cunningham, who was a fixture in the community for many years.

OPEN HOUSE SET IN RIDGE: Students in seventh to 12th grades at Mineral Ridge High School, 1334 Seaborn St., will have the opportunity to “Meet the Teachers” at 6 p.m. Thursday. Students and parents will be able to tour the high school and the modular unit that will temporarily house the seventh- and eighth-grade classrooms.

COMMITTEE TO MEET: The Resident Advisory Committee of the Strategic Planning Committee will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Red Cross, Mahoning Avenue N.W., Warren.

GRIEF RECOVERY PROGRAM: Kelley-Robb-Cummins Funeral Home will hold the 47th series of Grief Recovery Instructional Support Groups for the fall.

The groups are offered to anyone who has suffered a loss of a loved one and are struggling with the pain of the loss. Meetings will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesdays starting Sept. 10 at the care center located next to the funeral home.

Upon completion of the 10-week program, participants then enter the secondary group which meets twice a month. For information, call 330-534-1952.
