Memorial run in honor of firefighter

EVENT TO HONOR FIREFIGHTER’S MEMORY: The Warren City Firefighters Local 204 will hold the second annual Marc Titus Memorial Run sponsored by the Powerhouse Bar and Grill at 11 a.m. Sunday. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. at 999 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. The event will remember Titus and raise money to support the families of men and women serving in the armed services going to the Marc Titus Memorial Fund or the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. RIDE TO HONOR MAN’S MEMORY: The third annual Memorial Bike Ride for Larry Furniss will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday on the Western Reserve Greenway Sunside Trail on state Route 305. The event will be held rain or shine. On July 24, 2010, Furniss was traveling on the Western Reserve Greenway bike path and was struck by a car while crossing Houselcraft Road. Due to his injuries, he died on Aug. 10, 2010. Each year family and friends gather to enjoy Furniss’ favorite sport while raising awareness for bike safety.

A new Simple City 8 Bike, donated by Thumm’s Bike Shop, will be raffled at the end of the day. All proceeds will be donated to the Western Reserve Bike Path.

SHOW PLANNED BY YOUTH GROUP: The seventh annual classic car/ motorcycle and craft show sponsored by the Bethel Lutheran Church youth group will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman. Proceeds will benefit the youth ministry. The event will include cornhole contest, 50-50 raffle, Chinese auction, and a Christmas in July. For information call Mary Ann at 330-533-0253.

RIDERS HOST ROAST: The Gold Wing Road Riders Association Chapter 1-2 will hold a corn roast at 2 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Post No.751, Warren Burton Road, Southington. The event will include corn and prizes. All bikes are welcome. The next regular monthly meeting is 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Sunrise Inn.
