Groundbreaking for memorial set

CEREMONY SET FOR MEMORIAL: A groundbreaking ceremony for the Austintown Veterans Memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday on the Austintown Local Schools campus near the Fitness Center off Burkey Road. Scheduled to attend are state and local officials. The memorial will honor all veterans including Silver Star winners Sgt. James Prommesberger and Lt. Charles Brown, Class of 1962 from Austintown Schools. Refreshments will be served.

GARDEN FAIR: The Trumbull County Master Gardeners will hold free activities for children at the Children’s Garden, 520 W. Main St. in Cortland from 5 to 7 p.m. today. Activities planned include frog race, egg toss, growing beans, lily maze and egg hatching.

CONCERT IN PARK: Guys Without Ties will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lordstown Park off Salt Springs Road.

SYMPOSIUM PLANNED: Someplace Safe, in collaboration with Trumbull Memorial Hospital Healthy Woman, will present The Balanced Woman Mid-Summer Symposium from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Kent State University-Trumbull Campus, 4314 Mahoning Ave., Champion. The program focuses on providing women with information and tools to help achieve and maintain a healthy, balanced life. Yoga and mindful dance classes, health screenings, a variety of displays are featured along with presentations by area physicians and health professionals.
