Girard gears up for festival
GIRARD TO HOLD FESTIVAL: The annual Girard Mount Carmel Festival will be held Thursday to July 16 at the Italian Fraternal Home Club grounds, 33 W. Wilson Ave., Girard. The event will include food, entertainment, rides and games. Nightly entertainment includes Ground Cover Band on Thursday, Blue Collar Band on Friday, DJ Steve and Dominic Tucci and the Brotherhood on Saturday, Girard Community Band and the Rage on Sunday, Frank Gallo Band on Monday and Girard Jazz Band and St. Margaret’s Blue Coat Band on July 16. The parade will be held at 10 a.m. starting at the IFH and travel to St. Rose Church for a Mass at 11 a.m. followed with a ceremony at Girard Cemetery on July 16. Fireworks at 11 p.m. July 16 at the Girard-McDonald viaduct.
NEIGHBORHOOD GROUP TO HEAR SPEAKER: The Historic Perkins Neighborhood Association in Warren will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Mahoning Valley Red Cross administration building, Mahoning Avenue. Guest speaker is Matt Martin, program director with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership. Residents within the neighborhood boundaries are invited.
BLOCK WATCH TO MEET: The Hubbard Block Watch will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Hubbard Public Library.
CHURCH HOLDS FEST: St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 220 N. Walnut St., Youngstown, will hold a Greek Summerfest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The event will include Greek music, food and entertainment.
