Avamar donation to help seniors

HOWLAND – Trumbull County seniors needing help getting their prescription medications will have some assistance as the board of directors of the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation presented a $35,000 grant to the Avamar Foundation.

The Avamar Foundation’s mission is to help disadvantaged elderly residents pay for their prescriptions.

“We are honored to have the confidence of our friends at TMHF. We will work diligently in the allocation of funds intended to help the needy elderly with prescription medication,” said Dr. Farid Naffah of the Avamar Foundation.

The TMHF funds, previously restricted to the support of Trumbull Memorial Hospital, are now used to support a broad range of health care services and health care education needs of Trumbull County residents.

“We are thrilled to be assisting the senior residents of Trumbull County with their prescriptions. With the increasing costs of these vital medications we know that these funds will be of great assistance to local seniors, just as our donors had intended,” said David Kostolansky, chairman of the TMHF board of trustees.

In July 2012, the foundation secured a supporting organization designation with the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley with funds to be used for the healthcare needs of local residents.
